How do I junk an old car that's both in my name and someone elses (who lives in Mexico and is fine with that)?

This car was purchased when I was still a teen and my mother is also on the title. She now lives in Mexico and I'd like to junk this thing (and she's fine with that) as it's hogging driveway space. Do I have to wait until she visits to make a trip to the DMV or can I just have it hauled off?

I live in North Carolina and the car is no longer insured if that makes a difference. Thanks! How do I junk an old car that's both in my name and someone elses (who lives in Mexico and is fine with that)?
you simply call a vehicle salvage company to pick up car........you'll need keys, title or registration or just proof of ownership[you r credentials alone is sufficient; they'll still take the car].....possibly, if you don't have all car documents, a copy of your driver's license should satisfy the laws they must abide by in your state

and..........you may even receive $50-$100 or more... or tax credit if you donate the carHow do I junk an old car that's both in my name and someone elses (who lives in Mexico and is fine with that)?
Look at the title. Are your two name with "AND" or are they with "OR"?

And-means you need two signatures to make a change to the title.

OR-means only one of you needs to sign.

Sometimes "AND" can be designated by "/"

Then when you sign off on the title, phone the car hauler and give them the title. The hauler will do any paperwork necessary.

Don't forget to sign a Notice of Release of Liability and turn it in to the DMV. That's your way of making sure the DMV knows the status of the car, even if the hauler never tells them. How do I junk an old car that's both in my name and someone elses (who lives in Mexico and is fine with that)?
mail her the title, have her sign off, mail it back to you, you sign off, send the thing to the big junk yard in the sky!

How do I get the DMV from one state to send a clearance letter for me to the DMV of another state?

My traffic record in California where I reside is blemished by a traffic violation commited in North Carolina about 2 years ago. Funny thing I was nowhere near North Carolina 2 years ago, in fact I was working on an over-seas contract in the Persian Gulf. The California DMV claims that they recieved this info from the N.C. DMV and the only way they can clear it is if they recieve another letter from N.C. stating the opposite. The N.C. DMV are denying they sent any such info and are saying that my traffic record is clean and that there are no violations or convictions showing on my record. Meanwhile I continue to suffer from the black points I earned because of this, as well as the increase in my car insurance premium and the possibility of an arrest warrant issued in my name if this is not duely cleared. any advice??How do I get the DMV from one state to send a clearance letter for me to the DMV of another state?
Go on the NC DMV's website and follow the instructions for getting a driver abstract.

How do you go through buying a car off of Craigslist?

Just wanted to know the step by step procedure to buying a USED car off of Craigslist. The important parts to me are getting the car fully inspected for any faults (where to get one done in Wilmington, North Carolina), the paperwork involved with the DMV. If there is or isn't tax that is charged while transferring vehicles. I know this is a very detail intensive question, but if anyone can just link me to a general way of buying a used car through a private party, particularly over Craigslist, that would be great! Thank you for all your help! How do you go through buying a car off of Craigslist?
I personally always check for these when I ask the seller about the car:

1. Mileage

2. Engine problems

3. Transmission Problems

4. Clean title

Of course they can twist the truth a bit which make it vital to always take a look at the car in person and perhaps bring someone with you if you think you are not well versed enough about cars. Trust me, it is easy to get scammed :S

How do you go through buying a car off of Craigslist?
I have bought and sold several cars there. I am in San Francisco Bay Area and I can talk from my experience in this area.

I basically start looking for cars being sold "by owner", so you can check that option at the top of the page. If the car gives that "connfidence feeling", that is, the car has the records, is being sold by the original owner, looks clean at the pictures.....based in the description, you can feel the car is from a trusworthy source.

Next step is to negociate the price. I always use The Kelly Blue Book "Trade in value"....that's the real price of cars. People normally ask for a high price, so the idea is trying to take down that number. This can be done at the seler location, while inspecting visually the car. You'll see the person, the neighborhood and in general you will confirm that feeling of trust.

If both parties agree in a that price that you have in mind, you cn take the car for further inspections. A Carfax report would be helpful.

Make sure to check the original state ofthe car. Cars comming from upper states, normaly have a lot of rust underneath. How do you go through buying a car off of Craigslist?
I never bought a car off of craigslist. Wilmington is a huge city. My sister went to uncw. I'm in Clinton. There should be alot of auto shops, mechanics to get the car checked out before you buy it. During the test drive tell the seller you want a mechanic to look it over. Since you are paying for it, the seller should not have a problem. Make sure you know if the car have a clean title not salvage. You can pay about $20 or so for a carfax (on their website).

If you are buying a car from a non dealer(private seller) they should not add any taxes or fees. If you are buying from a dealer they might add fees, tax and tags. You just have to ask.

Also check kbb.com for a look at what the price should be around.

Craigslist have alot of scammers so be careful. Call them, email and see the car. Never fall for the overseas crap.

Any other questions contact your local dmv office. They will be glad to help you out.

Good luck
Just like if you buy a car from a Classified ad in your local paper.

you arrange a time with the seller to meet.

bring a mechanic friend with you, or have the seller bring the car to your mechanic (NOT HIS/HERS).

once you find the car to be kosher, then the seller will ask for your money; you pay, then he signs over the title and registration to you. you take these papers to the DMV and pay for registering the car in your name.

Make sure you have insurance before going to the DMV.

I bought a car from a private seller, she has signed the title, should I sign it before going to DMV?

I have just bought a car from a private seller. She has signed the title (with a notarized stamp) and has given it to me. Tomorrow, I am going to DMV for registration and getting a tag. (I live in North Carolina).

1) Should I sign the the buyer part of the title before going there? or I should sign it in front of the officers?

2) She removed her tag and the car doesn't have a tag. Isn't it a problem for registration? (Not to get pulled over by cops, I have posted a paper on the back windshield saying that I am going to DMV).

ThanksI bought a car from a private seller, she has signed the title, should I sign it before going to DMV?
It doesn't matter when you sign the title but since it's already notarized, I would sign it before going to the DMV. Don't worry about getting pulled over as long as you have a bill of sale in the vehicle.I bought a car from a private seller, she has signed the title, should I sign it before going to DMV?
no lol. think of anyway ppl could scam you by finding the title if they find the paper with your signature and hers on it. not sure about the laws in ur state but here you have a certain amount of days to get your car registered before you get in trouble with the law for having an unregistered vehicle. you can probably look the laws up online for your state.

Do i have to take drivers Ed in order to get my driving permit?

Hello there I just turned 15 and I was wondering if I had to take drivers ed. I already know how to drive and know my signals I really don't see how I have to go when I already know everything. Can't I just go to the DMV and take my test without taking drivers ed? And my state is north Carolina if that helpsDo i have to take drivers Ed in order to get my driving permit?
Hello IT@LI@N MOBSTER,

No, sorry, they won't even let you apply for a limited learner's permit if you don't go to driver's ed...

It's not only about how you drive and how everything works, but it is supposed to nurture the right attitude in you - to help you grow into a defensive, responsible and polite driver. This is particularly important for minors - as they pick up bad driving habits so quickly!

Check for yourself here:

Good luck!Do i have to take drivers Ed in order to get my driving permit?
i think that it depends on where you live. where i live you can get your permit when you are 15 if you are in drivers ed and 15 1/2 if you are not in drivers ed. also you don't have to take drivers ed if you wait until you are 18 to get your license. so if you are 15 and want it join drivers ed or wait till you are 15 1/2.Do i have to take drivers Ed in order to get my driving permit?
Yes, you have to take Driver's Ed to get your driving permit at your age. You would have to be 18 to get your driving permit without taking Driver's Ed.

  • Can I return a vehicle I purchased from another state?

Six weeks ago, I bought a used motorcycle via eBay, from North Carolina (I live in California). When I went to register the vehicle, I was told by DMV that it does not comply with CA emissions regulations and cannot be registered in this state. So now what do I do? Is the seller obligated to take it back? The title and registration is still in his name, but the financing for it is now in my name. Can I return a vehicle I purchased from another state?
No, unless they had made illegal modifications or something like that, they have no obligation, you should have checked that before buying it. CA has stricter emissions standards that most other states for quite a few years now, it's not their responsibility to know that.

Just put it back on ebay I would guess is your best bet.Can I return a vehicle I purchased from another state?
No. Unless he changed something that altered the exhaust system. California is quite strict on emissions. How is the title and registration still in the previous owners name and the financing in your name? Most lenders want the title to a vehicle they finance. If you took out a personal loan, you should have the title. What I am saying is, the prevooius owner should not have it if you bought it. You are asking for trouble if this is the case. Can I return a vehicle I purchased from another state?
No, the seller is not obligated to take the vehicle back, the fact that it won't pass California emissions isn't his fault. Why don't you find out why it doesn't comply? Maybe you could fix or adjust it so it is in compliance.

I really need help with my dmv permit test cause im taking it today?

What should i expect when i go to get my license?

This tuesday i'm going to the dmv to get my license (not permit) and i want to know what i should expect to have do on the road test? also is there a written test i will have to take or is it just the behind the wheel test? i live in north carolina. What should i expect when i go to get my license?
have you already taken a written test? if not then you will have to. be prepared to parallel park. stop completely in front of the stop sign and come to a complete stop. always check your mirrors and blind spot when changing lanes. always use turn signals. it is usually a quick test. only about 10-15 minutes. sometimes even less. just remember to stay calm dont freak out if you think youve already failed. do your best until its over. the testers know how nervous people get so they will be pretty laxxed..

Purchased a car from a private seller. Can I drive the car before the title is released by the lienholder?

    Hi,

I purchased a car from a private seller. He was still making payments on his car and we made a deal such that I will pay the amount he owes on the car and he will give the keys to me on the day I purchased a cashier鈥檚 check in his presence.

We did so yesterday, met at the bank, I purchased a cashier's check with the amount he owes, had a bill of sale signed by him, me, and the notary, he gave the keys to me, I mailed the cashier鈥檚 check to Toyota (lienholder), and added the car to my insurance policy.

I gave a call to DMV (North Carolina) today to ask for the documents I need to obtain a temporary tag until the title is released to my name and they said that I cannot obtain a temporary tag without a title and I cannot drive the car until then. Is this really the case? Does anybody have any experience with such a situation?

    Any response will be appreciated.

Thanks.Purchased a car from a private seller. Can I drive the car before the title is released by the lienholder?
That is the same in all states.

It will take 2-3 wks for Toyota to do the paperwork.

You can call Toyota and ask for express service on the title.

and overnight the title. That will save you some time.

Or drive the car with the previous owners plates.Purchased a car from a private seller. Can I drive the car before the title is released by the lienholder?
You could but you shouldn't. The best way to solve a potential problem is by preventing it from happening in the first place. What if you have an accident during the first drive? Would you be insured? Prudence dictates that you should take all steps possible to insure your best interests by being patient and keeping your house in order.

How do you get your license back when its revoked couse of grades?

okay, so i live in North Carolina and the state took my license becouse i failed 2 classes and we can only fail one. Im not allowed to have it back until im passing 3 out of 4 classes but does that mean i have to wait an intire semester for a report card to take to the DMV or can i use a progress report? thanksHow do you get your license back when its revoked couse of grades?
Obviously you need to satisfy all academic requirements before driving privileges are restored. What you might consider doing to help yourself, is to attend some remedial language classes. The following is an example of why you should: [mistakes are in parenthesis]

In one question, you have managed to make 19 mistakes. The state wants you to do better than this and it is using your driving priveliges as an incentive. You will need these skills, so it is better that you improve them now. Good luck to you.

  • How do i get my drivers license back?

I was out of the country for 3 years back at the start of the decade. I was pulled over about 6 months after I got back and was taken to jail because they said it was suspended. They said I had a speeding ticket in Elgin North Carolina and need to pay that before I can get my license back. I tried to contact the city hall of that town and turns out there is no such place. When you go to the DMV they tell you to go to another office and they tell you go to another office. All I seem to get is a bunch of run around. Two lawyers have given up trying. I live under my work so I can walk there but he's about to close the doors on the place so soon I will be out of a job. How can I get my license back so I can find a job somewhere else? How do i get my drivers license back?

I just moved to Texas can I change my license online?

I just moved to texas from North Carolina. Several people have told me I can change my address on the dmv website and they will send me a new license. But can I change states through the website? Wouldn't they have to get a new picture? I also need to do my vehicle tags etc. Can I do any of that online being from out of state?I just moved to Texas can I change my license online?
When I moved back here from AZ. I had to go into the dmv and physically surrender my lisence. And they'll make you buy a new one I think too. For the car I too think you might need to go into the actual office for this. I know it sucks but atleast you know it gets done. Good luck .. Oh and if you are in San Antonio area the best dmv is the one in Universal City .. I was in and out in like 5 minutes.

Why would a police officer come to your home and confiscate your drivers licence?

I had a lady come up to me at work and ask me if I knew anyone who works at the DMV. I told her no. I then asked why. She said an officer came to her residence and confiscated her licence. She acted as if she didnt know why. So I want to know iswhat are some things that she could have done, because I have never heard of this before and this is in North Carolina. Why would a police officer come to your home and confiscate your drivers licence?

How do you sell a car to someone in another state - esp concerning registration?

I live in North Carolina and I am selling my car to a friend who now lives in Michigan. This is further complicated by the fact that I will have already moved to another country at the time that she'll be in NC to get the car.

So how do we transfer ownership between states? I've done it before with someone in NC, and they were at the DMV with me, but I have no clue how to do it with someone who is in another state. How do you sell a car to someone in another state - esp concerning registration?
Well, is the car still registered and insured in your name? If so, just keep it registered and insured in your name, and sign the title over to her (you might have to have it notarized), and mail the title to her with a bill of sale and the keys. Then, she can come pick it up, drive it back home, and register and insure it there.

HER INSURANCE AGENT is the best person to walk her through buying a car out of state, and getting it back to MI.How do you sell a car to someone in another state - esp concerning registration?
All you need to do is make a bill of sale and both of you sign it and date it and sign ur part of the title of and they fill in there part and ur done. But they will need to have a police inspection done when the car is registered in Michigan because it has a out of state title this just assures them it is not stolen. How do you sell a car to someone in another state - esp concerning registration?
the same way you would sell any other car.

My car is 9 months past inspection, what will happen when I get it inspected tomorrow?

I honestly have just kept forgetting and forgetting, and when I go to get it inspected tomorrow, will I have to pay a fine? And what will the DMV do?

I'm in North Carolina by the way.My car is 9 months past inspection, what will happen when I get it inspected tomorrow?
Do you have to get the inspection from a state agency or a certified garage? If it's the latter you should be OK, the garage don't care if your past due. The DMV will never know. You could have had it parked for 9 months. My car is 9 months past inspection, what will happen when I get it inspected tomorrow?
As long as you get to the inspection shop without being stopped by the police. All you will have to do is pay for the inspection, as long as there is nothing wrong with you vehicle.

  • Is it legal to use a turn lane to complete a left turn into traffic?

I am constantly irked by drivers that pull INTO the left turn lane (from a parking lot, for example), then slowly accelerate to merge right into traffic. My feeling is that the purpose of the left turn lane is to exit the road, not enter it. It seems that drivers using the lane incorrectly could present a danger to drivers trying to enter the lane from the other direction. I asked a former police chief about it, and he hedged a bit, saying "You're not supposed to do it..." and then indicated that police usually don't bother you about it unless you've done something else illegal as well. I've skimmed through a driver's handbook produced by the North Carolina DMV, but I couldn't find anything. So I ask you, my fellow commuters...is this legal or not? If it's illegal, is that nationwide or is it decided on a state-by-state basis? If you can provide a link or cite a specific law, that would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!Is it legal to use a turn lane to complete a left turn into traffic?
The legality is strictly state by state. In VA, just north of you buddy:), it is legal to use the left turn lane to merge into traffic. However, this can cause to be hazardous because many drivers don't know it's legal. Just make a habit to double check when you're planning on turning, just in case. Sorry, don't know about NC state law. If there's nothing specifically adressed, it's probably at the judgment of the officer on whether it is posing a danger to other motorists. Is it legal to use a turn lane to complete a left turn into traffic?
It has been several years since I drove in NC, but here in the Midwest, the center turn lane is for purpose of slowing down to make the turn, and to speed up for the purpose of merging with moving traffic. Personally I fully agree with this, as trying to jump straight into the traffic lane has been shown to cause more accidents. Now slowly accelerating can be irksome, while a simple swift acceleration is preferable, but not all drivers have the skill and mindset to pull this off properly. As for your last question on nationwide or state by state, each state defines and puts out the driving manual for that state, hence, there are some differences, but basically all the same. In this state here, it is illegal to make a left turn at an arrow controlled left turn light when its red, but another state close by, it is permissible to make that turn after coming to a complete stop.

Illegal U-turn. Pay the fee or go to court.?

I got pulled over yesterday late at night for doing an illegal U-turn (I am not even sure when is it legal) at about 1:30 am with no one around but the cop coming behind me but by no means close. He actually did the same illegal U-turn to stop me. Of course this does not make me any less bad... but it shows it was safe to do given the conditions.

It was a U-turn in between intersections, so probably that was the bad part, but I am not sure if that was the problem.

My question is, should I pay or go to court? I am not as worried about the fine as I am about the whole point thing and my insurance rate getting screwed, this is my first offense but I have just 8 months of driving history (rates are pretty bad as they are for me now). The officer didn't bother to write the amount I am supposed to pay or who should I pay it to.

According to North Carolina DMV and magistrate sites, it looks like it is 25 dollars plus court costs (no idea how much is that) and I get 2 traffic points (the charge says G.S. 20-154).

So... Should I pay? If so how much? or try to go to court to find out how much to pay / negotiate some way to not get negative points and just pay my fine?Illegal U-turn. Pay the fee or go to court.?
Police can make a U-turn anywhere in the course of their duty if they are doing so in the effort to stop a driver who is not obeying traffic laws or there is an emergency.

Most of the time, if you go to court and say, "Yeah, I did it, and it won't happen again", then you get a lighter fine or fewer points. It's up to the discretion of the judge. It always looks better if you show up. Most traffic tickets I've seen don't have the amount of the fine on them. Just make sure you take enough cash to pay off the fine and the court costs. Since the fine is only $25 according to the DMV site, I would think it wouldn't cost any more than $100 total (and likely quite a bit less).

Only glad to help out. Good luck!

Illegal U-turn. Pay the fee or go to court.?
In most states it is legal to U-turn in an intersection. If you were between intersections then you are at fault. Go to the drivers ed place and pick up a manual or look up U-turns and see what the law is. If you were in the right then go to court and fight it. If you were wrong then just pay it.
if the fine is just $25 then pay it. It's not worth the $75-150 in court costs to fight it. Your insurance may not even be affected by this anyway.Illegal U-turn. Pay the fee or go to court.?
I would go to court and see if they will offer something with a fine but no points.

How soon can I start preparing for a motorcycle endorsement?

Just a quick question, Id like to be able to drive a motorcycle as well as a car. Just seems like a good thing to be able to do.

And although this may be a little soon, I just want to know the soonest I can start getting ready for it and what is involved in it.

I just got my paperwork to go to the North Carolina DMV and get my restricted license. I was told I can drive for 6 months with a parent in the car, then after those 6 months I can drive with anyone in the car as long as they have had their license for 5 years or more. My question is, when can I start working on my motorcycle license, or whatever it may be called.

Basically I just wanna know what goes into getting one, and how soon I can start.

Thanks! How soon can I start preparing for a motorcycle endorsement?
Go to the DMV take the motorcycle permit test which is like your car permit test just about motorcycles. With a permit you can ride from dawn to dusk and no passangers. Then instead of waiting 6 months you only have to wait 7 days then you can either take a MSF saftey course and they give you a card of completion and you can go straight to the DMV and get your edorsement. But if not you need to schedule an appointment to take your test and provide your own motorcycle.

You could most likely take it before your driving one

Can you get plates for a car, in NC, that is registered to one person, but is insured by someone else?

I'm planning on buying a car, from a friend of mine, but he is waiting for a new title from the DMV. He has it registered in his name right now, but doesn't have insurance for it, so he doesn't have any plates/tags for it. If I insured the car, in my name, could he get a plate for it? Would it be legal for me to drive it at that point? What if I added his name to my insurance? How long does it take for a new title to arrive in the mail? We're dealing with the North Carolina DMV.Can you get plates for a car, in NC, that is registered to one person, but is insured by someone else?
    1. yes you can do this.

    2. you don't want to because of the liability issues.

    3. titles take between 7 to 10 working days.

    4. i would wait to see if the title is clean and clear before you do anything.

The guy who bought my used car in SC drove off back to NC with my license plate! help?

    This happened 2 months ago.

I sold my car and the guy who bought it claimed he turned my tags in to the North Carolina DMV, even though my car is registered in South Carolina.

Now I have bought my new Volvo, and was told I'd get my tag in the mail. My temp tag expires on 9-1-11 and I got my registration in the mail today but no tag with.

Anyone know what I should do? Or what fines I might face? The guy who bought my used car in SC drove off back to NC with my license plate! help?
At this point, i would just report the plates lost or stolen and get new ones... in CT, it is under $100 for everything... That is most likely the best solution instead of trying to track down the plate...

Heres the form to report it lost/stolen in SC

It is NOT legal !!! You have to have the car registration and insurance in the persons name that is going to drive it. The title takes about 2 - 4 weeks. Can you get plates for a car, in NC, that is registered to one person, but is insured by someone else?
most insurance companies that I have had want to see the title with my name on it before they will insure it. I don't know why he is waiting for a new title but that only takes about 1 week. I don't know about it being illegal but the insurance company will tell you.

Can i get me learners permit and the DMV? best answer?

I am 16 years old and I live in North Carolina. I was wondering if I can take drivers education at the DMV instead of taking it at school

Do anyone know how much it will cost and how long it would take to complete the classes so I can recieve my Learner's Permit?

I can't take it at school because my parents schedual won't allow them to pick me up afterwards. Can i get me learners permit and the DMV? best answer?
The DMV doesn't give classes in drivers education. They do license and things like that.

But you have plenty of time.

To apply for a Driver License or Learner Permit:

To obtain an Original North Carolina Driver License or Learner Permit you have to be age 18 or older.

I'd also suggest you download and read the drivers manual, second link below. Can i get me learners permit and the DMV? best answer?
I don't know about N.C., but in California if you are under the age of 18 you must take a Driver's Education course prior to being able to take the test to get your learner's permit and then you must log a certain number of hours with a Certified Driving Instructor to get your license. Driver's Ed use to be offered as part of the regular freshman curriculum, but most schools make it an after school class or don't offer it at all. The DMV does not offer this course, but they can tell you where you can take it. Generally, if you can't take it at your high school, local community colleges will offer the course. Can i get me learners permit and the DMV? best answer?
I can't say for certain, but I;m pretty sure that state DMVs don't offer driving classes. They don't in my state. So either school or going it on your own with the booklet from the DMV is pretty much your only options.
You should just get the booklet at the DMV. It's free. read it, learn it and take the written exam. You should pass if you go over the booklet a few times.

Is it illegal to have a driver's license from more than one state?

We are military and we move a lot and my mother lives in Florida. I have 3 Hawaii licenses because every time I lost one I went %26amp; got another one. So when I arrived in Florida my Mom suggested I get a Florida license so I could get the Florida resident discount at the parks. They asked for my current license so I gave them 1 of my 3 Hawaii licenses. So now I have a Florida license and 2 Hawaii licenses. I gave my car insurance company my Hawaii license when they asked for my license information and now my Hawaii license is expired %26amp; North Carolina requires that since I live here I get a North Carolina license. Do I give them my expired Hawaii licenses or do I give them my Florida license that is still good??? Will I get in trouble if I give them the 2 expired Hawaii licenses and someone realizes that I had Hawaii %26amp; Florida licenses at the same time??

What if I give the North Carolina DMV the 2 expired Hawaii licenses and they realize I gave Florida the same license information? Will I get in trouble?

All of my licenses have the same name, birth date and social security so it's not like I'm trying to commit identity theft of something. I just have licenses in more then one state and since I live in North Carolina now they are requiring me to get a North Carolina license. Is it illegal to have a driver's license from more than one state?
Yes, you are allowed to possess one single driver's license from one state only.
Florida will notify Hawaii that you were issued a license in FL and HI will cancel your HI license. If you attempt to use it at a traffic stop it would come back as invalid. Is it illegal to have a driver's license from more than one state?
Only your most current license is valid. Your previous licenses were most likely voided by the DMV.
I'm pretty sure that whenever you get a new license, all older licenses become void. You should give them the most recent license when you go for your new one.Is it illegal to have a driver's license from more than one state?
it is illegal, but most truckers have at least 30 driver's licenses
yes! its very illegal! its illegal to have more then one for a single state! much less different ones for diff states! u need to go turn them in man!
If you are active duty military you have two options. The most advantageous would be to keep your home-state license where ever you are assigned. That way you would not have to become involved in changing your license if re-assigned to another state. (If you are assigned overseas the Status of Forces agreement for that country will determine your licensing requirement). If you are in the U.S. your home-state plates are valid as would be plates from your place of assignment.

It is not a matter of trying to do a fraudulent act, it is a matter of following the law. Today's laws are more favorable to military members than they used to be. At one time (long ago) two of three things had to match to be legal: driver's license, license plates and location. So... with a California DL, Texas License plates, to be in Louisiana would have been illegal.

You'll have to decide how to keep from losing your licenses.

Should the Mexico Consular Card Be Considered Legal ID For Drivers Licenses Bank Accounts Credit Cards?

If the Durham, North Carolina city council follows through with their plan to accept the controversial Mexican Matricula Consular cards as a legal form of identification.

The government of Mexico through its consulates, distributes the cards throughout the United States, mostly to those living in the country illegally.

The Durham City Attorney issued the following statement on the matter: "The official purpose of the card is to demonstrate that the holder is a Mexican citizen living outside of Mexico. It includes an official Government of Mexico issued ID number and bears a photograph and address of the Mexican National to whom it is issued."

Since the announcement, the city council has received dozens of complaints from citizens, many worried that the cards will lead to illegal aliens voting in elections.

Mitch Kokai with the John Locke Foundation told WTDV: “It really doesn't tell you anything about the legal or illegal status of the person being in the United States.”

Kokai continued: “That could be the path that leads from this card to the official document - to being able to vote - and I think for voter integrity that's a concern a lot of folks should have.”

The move will make Durham the only city in the nation to accept the cards for conducting business with city agencies. It would also serve as acceptable identification with the police.

In September, the staff of the Mexican Consulate in Raleigh came to Charlotte’s Concord High School to sign up thousands of Mexican nationals for Matricula Consular cards and passports.

While Mexican officials made the ridiculous claim that they are distributing the documents so that the illegal aliens can safely return home, the real motivation is to assist Charlotte’s large illegal population in obtaining driver’s licenses.

According to the NCDOT website, the North Carolina DMV accepts “Matricula Consular cards issued by the Mexican consulate FOR North Carolina.”

Also needed for a license is “Proof of Identity Documents,” and any “Valid, unexpired Passport from any nation” will fulfill that requirement.

Another reason for the distribution of the Matricula Consular cards is to help Mexican illegal aliens secure bank accounts, credit cards, and loans in this country.

Of course, we all know that on October 26, 2001, President Bush signed the USA Patriot Act. However, I would wager to say that almost no one knows that contained in section 326(b) of the USA Patriot Act is a provision that allows US banks to accept Mexican Matricula Consular cards as a valid form of ID for opening bank accounts.

It should be noted that while our President and Congress ordered American banks to recognize these Mexican-issued cards, there is not one Mexican bank which accepts their own government’s Matricula Consular card as a valid form of ID, because the bearer’s identity is basically untraceable.

So, beware North Carolina…if the national pattern holds true--in the coming months you can expect to see an increase in DUI accidents thanks to the pending driver’s license distribution, not to mention illegal aliens voting in future elections…courtesy of Mexico.

http://www.examiner.com/immigration-refo…Should the Mexico Consular Card Be Considered Legal ID For Drivers Licenses Bank Accounts Credit Cards?
Yes, but only in Mexico.Should the Mexico Consular Card Be Considered Legal ID For Drivers Licenses Bank Accounts Credit Cards?
I had basically the same question a while ago. Play it safe by click on www.lawyersearchcentral.tkShould the Mexico Consular Card Be Considered Legal ID For Drivers Licenses Bank Accounts Credit Cards?
First of all, a Matricula Consular card is tantamont to holding a huge sign over your head and saying "I am an illegal alien. What are you gonna do about it?". What the hell is wrong with these stupid liberals. We should be forcing them to breed elsewhere, not making it easier to set up and swarm an area

do you mean suspended? cause revoked means that you are done and can never get a license ever again. if its suspended then you would have to take everything over again, written, eye, driving road testWhat all tests do i have to retake with the dmv for revoked license for 4 years?
Revoked or suspended you'll have to take all 3 test again(written, vision, drive). Its basically like you never had a DL. You most likely will need SR-22 insurance.

Can i transfer my title to someone without going to the DMV?

i live in north carolina and can i just go get my title notarized so that way i can just hand the new driver the title and they go do there part? Can i transfer my title to someone without going to the DMV?
Yes. There's no need for you to visit the DMV. Besides getting the title notarized you should also mail the DMV a notice of sale (see the link). Not all buyers title or register the car in a timely manner. If something happens to the car before they title it it could become a major headache for you. There was for example a post here the other day where a car someone sold was impounded, the new owner disappeared, and since they were still the owner of record with no proof that they sold the car the state was after them for all kinds of penalties claiming that they were trying to avoid fines by claiming the car had been sold. Imagine the trouble they might be having if the car was used in a crime. It happens. Can i transfer my title to someone without going to the DMV?
the notary needs to see you and the new buyer sign the title. depending on the year you may need an odometer statement. the buyer can take the title with the bill of sale to the DMV. you do not need to go to the dmv

What is the easiest way to change my last name after my wedding in North Carolina?

I am seeking information as to the easiest way to change my last name for my wedding in October. I would like to start preparing now. I am aware that I'll need to change my name with the SS administration, DMV, and on my passport.

    Specifically:

    1. What forms do I need and where can I obtain them?

    2. Which of these may be mailed in and which need to be delivered in person?

    3. For ones that can be mailed in, I've heard that I should request certified copies of my marriage license to expedite the process (so I don't have to wait to receive the original back each time). How do I obtain these copies?

Any additional information would be greatly appreciated. What is the easiest way to change my last name after my wedding in North Carolina?
i got married in aug, and i heard that we had to go to regsiterd of deeds to get a copy of your marraige lic which is 10 dollars and take them to Social sercuity and they will change it there!, but i would take ur ss card just in case. but that is what i was told to do.What is the easiest way to change my last name after my wedding in North Carolina?
Certified copies of a marriage license can be purchased from the county courthouse - Dept. of Vital Statistics in just about any state. A trip to the local Social Security office and filling out a form will get your new card in a couple of weeks. Here, it takes about 10 minutes for the new driver's license.

I'd suggest you check online about the passport if there isn't a passport office nearby.

Can I buy and register a car with learner's permit in North Carolina?

I live in Charlotte, NC and I have a learner's driving license (what they call "Learner's permit") which allows me to drive in city, but if I want to drive in highway, someone with a driver's license should seat besides me.

I am about buying a car from a private party and I wanna register it in DMV, and then I wanna take the driving test with my own car and get the driver's license.

Can I do all paper work and registration with my learner's permit? what document should I have? should I have a insurance for that car?

ThanksCan I buy and register a car with learner's permit in North Carolina?
Any person or institution can own a car, and register it. The tags don't imply that the person who owns the car is driving it, nor that people inside the car have driver's licenses. The tag doesn't even imply that the car belongs to a human being. The tag is just to track down the owner, which might be an institution, like the state.

If you're a minor, there may be some steps in there where you'd need your guardian to agree to it. You didn't say. For instance, you can't sign a contract, so you couldn't actually buy a car from a dealer. You can own it, though.
Check with D.M.V. but I don't think so.Can I buy and register a car with learner's permit in North Carolina?
For insurance reasons, it would be better to have the car registered in your parents name and then have you listed on their insurance. If I was the seller of the car, I would want you to be at least 18. There are different laws regarding transaction with minors, they have a lot more rights than adults.

good luck on the drivers test.
From what I know, you have to have a valid license to buy a car. The dealer(s) will ask for it to show they are in compliance w/ state law. Private party may not require it, but your car will need to be properly registered and insured when you take the test. The test proctor can and sometimes do ask for that info. By law, all cars on the road must be insured. The fines are very high if your caught. Your license can be suspended and taken away by the police if you don't. Some cities/counties amy even haul you away to jail and make you post bond until court. I don't know all about NC law, but any one w/ a learners permit must have a licensed driver at all times no matter if you are in the city or on the hwy. And since you have a learners permit %26amp; you are driving by yourself, that means your not insured. Thus you've broken the law. No insurance company will issue a policy to someone who has a learners permit. Can I buy and register a car with learner's permit in North Carolina?
I think over 18, check DMV

What is the process of getting your drivers license switched to a North Carolina license?

i have had my GA license for almost 3 years and i am moving to NC. i heard that you have to have insurance to get it but i thought you have to have a license to get insurance. In what order do i do all of this? license, insurance, tag, registration, inspection etc... and how much is all of this going to cost not counting insurance? i am a 20 year old stay at home mom and my husband doesn't make a whole lot of money so i just need all of this info in detail before i start the process. thanks so much.... in as much detail as possible please cause the DMV isn't that much of a help with all of it together. What is the process of getting your drivers license switched to a North Carolina license?
you can get your insurance policy in NC with a GA license. your company will give you time to switch your license over to NC. i even have a couple companies that will allow you to keep your GA license if you are military. after you get your insurnace policy you go to the DMV and get your license. the test is not hard, its all common sense. i believe when i first moved here and got my license it was about $25. the real cost is registering your autos. when you first move and register your autos hre there is a 1 time road tax you have to pay and its about $200.
i am having the same issue THE NC DMV is a pain in the ***, NC is one of the worst states to have a licenses and own a vehicle in america...

What is the process of getting your drivers license switched to a North Carolina license?
Each state is different and has it's own rules and regulations. I am not at all familiar with North Carolina DMV rules. I am surprised that you can't get the answers you need from DMV. Maybe you should contact North Carolina DMV if you didn't already. If you have only spoken to Georgia DMV they probably don't really know the correct answer as it pertains to NC.
You can help yourself by searching for the NC DMV online and getting the number there. Should have a toll free 800 or 888 number, so you can call and get the information and fees that you are looking for. Good luck on your move, and enjoy NC.What is the process of getting your drivers license switched to a North Carolina license?
ITS BEST IF YOU CONTACT YOUR LOCAL (DMV) DEPARTMENT OF MOTOR VEHICLES OFFICE, THEY WILL BE ABLE TO ANSWER ANY AND ALL OF YOUR QUESTIONS AND AT THE SAME TIME YOU WILL BE GETTING THE CORRECT ANSWER TO YOUR QUESTION.
Every State, with the exception of the District of Columbia, will allow a person with a license from another State to go to DMV, surrender their old license and exchange it for the current State's license.

The District of Columbia, I think is the only one that doesn't do this due to the large amount of traffic circles in Washington,D.C..

This exchange system is called reciprocity.
You're making this way too complicated. You move to NC, you go to their DMV, fill out their application, surrender your GA license, pay a few bucks and they issue you a new NC license. I'm sure the State of NC has a website that explains all of this in great detail.

  • What is the process of buying a used car from a private seller in North Carolina?

I'm hoping to buy a used car either today or Monday from a private seller. I bought my first car from a dealer when I lived in a different state, so I'm unsure of how it works in NC for a private seller. I've reviewed the DMV website already, so please don't answer by simply quoting the text there.

The seller retains their license plates, right? If so, the DMV website states that I must get the car inspected before they will give me plates. How do I drive the car to get inspected if I don't have plates. Will they give me temporary tags or something?

So is this below what the process should be?

    --------------------------------------鈥?br>
I look at the car and decide to buy it.

The seller and I go to my bank where I pay them and have the title notarized.

    Insure the vehicle.

On Monday I go to the DMV and register the car.

Take the car to get inspected.

Go back to DMV and get my plates.

How to get a motorcycle license in Raleigh, North Carolina?

I just want to operate a 149cc scooter.

I don't think I'm allowed to buy one without a motorcycle endorsement.

I never learned how to drive a car because I grew up riding public transit.

I'm not interested in learning how to drive a car because it's too expensive and I'm trying to live within my means.

I know I'm allowed to legally operate a 49cc moped without a license but I don't want to be that guy on the road with a line of angry cagers behind him.

(And there's no way I'm riding a restricted 49cc engine on public roads because that just doesn't seem safe to me.)

I have a Class C learner's permit but I can't take the driving test because I just don't feel comfortable driving those cars. (I can only get about 30 minutes practice a week.)

I contacted the DMV. They said I need take this up with law enforcement. I don't know what that means. I think I know what that means and if it means what I think it means then it's another dead end.

Some local motorcycle organizations have been trying to get the law changed but the politicians won't budge. I've written the governor's office and state representatives but I don't expect much to come of that.

    I want to be licensed.

    I want to be insured.

I want to take the MSF course.

I'm trying to be legal but the law is making it really hard.

Is there anyway around all this???How to get a motorcycle license in Raleigh, North Carolina?
well common sense tells you that you gotta have a license first and then get the motorcycle endorsement, no way to get around it, if you don't feel comfortable ina car then how can you feel comfortable on a scooter when you have no protection other than a helmet, i understand its cheaper for a scooter than a car but its no way to get around it, gotta get the license first and then put the endorsement on it

What should I expect in North Carolina Court for speeding in a school zone?

I was pulled over, and ticketed for 2 things.1. He told me he didnt use his radar, but that I was going approx 50mph in a school zone, with lights flashing and students and crossing guards. Traffic was (Med), sunny day. #2. ticket for failure to notify dmv of an address change.

ok, I really dont think I was going that fast, Im not sure exactly what my speed was , but with traffic, ect there was NO way I was going 50, anyway, Im out of work, and I cant just pay the fine and be on my way.., and Im not able to hire a lawyer.to clear this up for me. I have no points /and a clean record.., I did get the cash to change my DL to the correct address,( I didnt even know that was a law)...but IM scared of having to face a judge and if he finds me guilty and I cant pay the court costs...IM scared I will go to jail...I would like to know what the chances of that happing are? and does anyone have any advice for me..thank you. What should I expect in North Carolina Court for speeding in a school zone?
You should probably expect the death penalty. What should I expect in North Carolina Court for speeding in a school zone?
In North Caroline this is the way the law read for speeding in a school zone..................

    1. up to a $1000.00 fine.

    2. 3 points on your driving record.

    3. possible jail time for 60 days. What should I expect in North Carolina Court for speeding in a school zone?
lucky you did not hit anybody. no radar means no proof to substantiate the claim that you were doing 50mph. you have a valid argument not unless one of those crossing guards turn out be a witness. Challenge the officer (when you get to court) to "estimate" speeds of cars passing by without the benefit of a radar and compare that with actual radar results. Your issue about the address change is "forgivable" but is nonetheless a violation. You can site your present financial worries etc, etc. You have to apologize for your "oversight" and assure the judge that you are getting everything in order. Judges are often compassionate unless there is an aggrieved party (like in the case when you hit another car or person). Good Luck.

If I fail the North Carolina written drivers test, will the questions be the same when I retake it?

Those questions were bogus and most were not covered in the pamphlet they gave me or related to driving at all. They also had contradictory answers. The pamphlet said you should pull off the road at a safe place and rest if you felt tired while driving, but the actual test said the correct answer was to open a window.

Not that the nasty people at the DMV would listen to me, even though I circled the answer in the pamphlet right in front of them...

I hope the questions are the same, then at least I can play their little games and give them the answers they want to hear.

Thanks. If I fail the North Carolina written drivers test, will the questions be the same when I retake it?
I just took the North Carolina written driver's education test a month ago. Some questions will be the same, others will not be. I had the same question on the NC driver's ed written test and selected to pull over and rest. I got it correct. You are obviously not being truthful. If I fail the North Carolina written drivers test, will the questions be the same when I retake it?
Same questions just written slower so that you can understand better.

what is the cheapest way to pay for the title and plates? I am going to receive the title papers and will have to go to the dmv and am wondering what is the cheapest way to pay for the taxes I bought the car at a dealership,. I took a loan and am not trying to spend 2 grand on taxes and plates. Can i say what i took out for the loan and put the loan as what I paid for the car? and i also printed a page from edmunds saying the car is worth what i took out for the loan.Bought a car in North Carolina and transfered the title to MN what is the cheapest way to pay for the title?
There is no legal way to get the "cheapest way". Take the purchase contract to the MVD when you go to get a new title and plates. Do not lie. Do not try to report only the amount of the loan as the sales price. You will be caught and you will regret it. If you cannot afford or don't want to pay the proper fees, then maybe you shouldn't be driving yet?.Bought a car in North Carolina and transfered the title to MN what is the cheapest way to pay for the title?
They could ask to see the sale receipt paper so don't assume they don't know car values and what they can sell for. If you can't borrow from someone you know than you may be able to use a payday loan from a Payday USA or Check into Cash for a short two week loan. Search the sites and check what is required but I used Payday USA a few times when I had to pay a bill on time and knew I didn't have my next pay check for a couple of days. A checking account and bank statement are required plus a photo I.D. and address verification with a phone bil or electric bill and ofcourse paycheck stubs for previous 4 weeks in your name.Bought a car in North Carolina and transfered the title to MN what is the cheapest way to pay for the title?
if the dealer ship listed the purchase price on the tilte then you will pay full taxes. If not just say you paid a lot less for it. Your tilte and plates will be the same either way thou.

  • What are North Carolina's lisc. & insurance points for speeding ticket: more than 10 over but less than 55mph?

I've looked at the charts at the DMV website, but I can't seem to find what points would a guilty plea be for in NC for a speeding ticket going 53 in a 35 mph zone, non-school. It's more than 10 miles per hour over the speed limit, but total speed is less than 55, which isn't listed on a chart I can find. It would be a first time offense. Anyone know and can point me to a source? What are North Carolina's lisc. %26amp; insurance points for speeding ticket: more than 10 over but less than 55mph?
Yours seems to fall into the "All other moving violations" category, if so it's one point.

How to get a North Carolina license with a Florida Driving Permit.?

I just moved here this year. TODAY OCT 7TH i could have my driving license in florida. i called the dmv a few weeks ago, and they told me that i have to take the 30 hour driving class, the 200 question test, and also drive with a person for 6 hours until i could officially get my license. but why would i do that when i could just make a quick trip down to florida, drive with a guy for like 5 minutes. and then get my license.

is this correct that i have to do this? or would i only have to take the 25 question test to change my license from Fl- Nc? which is what you have to do when you move from a different state to change your license.

does anyone have any information on this? i plan on going to the DMV soon to find out for sure. but please help.

    Drivers license north carolina?

I was out of town about 4 hours away from home and needed to get my license back. I had proof of insurance and registration and several bank cards with my picture on them. I am an american. I had no other forms with me at the time and could not have gotten them. they where at home 4 hours away.

the dmv workers were not very informative they act like they dont care and would not even let me ask them questions. so my question is could I have gone to get a document from the court house like for example a police report or something to prove who i am. they wanted to forms of id and i only had 1

also I live in nc and there is alot of mexicans here, how do they walk in and get them what kind of documents do they have to get? I 've been here all my life and I had things they could not possibly have or should have . what can someone do to get an id when they tell you you need 2 forms of id. I ended up calling raleigh dmv they were very nice and helpful. but i was stuck in wilmingtonDrivers license north carolina?
Yes because of the 9/11 situation they tightened security and it is absurd. You can go to the Department of Vital Statistics and get your birth certificate you have to pay for it, another way for them to make money off the tax payer. Also you can write to the Social Security Administration ssa.gov and get a new Social Security Card and those two things should be good enough for you to get your drivers license. It's like you have to go through an act of Congress to get your license now, it's ridiculous to put American Citizens through this. You know if you are a citizen, HOW DO THEY THINK YOU GOT TO BE A CITIZEN FOR REAL. I agree if you had a drivers license in the past and you provided proof of identity at that time why do you need to provide it every freaking time you go to DMV. Don't they have your information on file from the first time you got your license you know.Drivers license north carolina?

North Carolina laws about motorcycle underglow (LED lighting)?

I would like to add some LED underglow lighting onto my bike, but I don't specifically know what the laws are. Furthermore I want to use the lights when I am riding on public roads (I don't simply want them for stationary effects). I've searched the internet but I have not seen a definite yes or no.

I wanted to add ORANGE or AMBER ground effects lighting and perhaps some in the fender wells too.

Please refrain from posting the laws in states other than NC or post unhelpful comments. I have called my local DMV and get a constant busy signal. Believe me, I'm not being lazy and I want an honest answer please.

Thanks!North Carolina laws about motorcycle underglow (LED lighting)?
Neon automotive lights, or ground effect lights, are often added by car enthusiasts to make the car look more interesting or attractive. Most states, including North Carolina, have laws governing the use of neon lights and the colors allowed. These generally ban the use of neon lights that may interfere with driving or are the same color as those used by emergency services vehicles. In North Carolina, the use of neon lights is governed by the Motor Vehicle Act.

Read more: What is the Law on Neon Lights for Cars in North Carolina? | eHow.com http://www.ehow.com/about_6822997_law-li鈥?/a>

Some drivers may be tempted to install neon lighting to the license plate or undercarriage of a vehicle to use while parked. Even if the neon lighting is not used while driving, the vehicle will not pass inspection in North Carolina. If neon lighting is found during an inspection, the driver will be required to remove all illegal modifications and go through an additional inspection. The Motor Vehicle Act of 1937 outlines a few exceptions for show vehicles with neon lighting used while driving in parades or while parked.

The installation and use of neon lighting in North Carolina will result in a class 2 misdemeanor; if the neon lighting is either red or blue in color, the punishment will result in a class 1 misdemeanor. It is possible that a warning could be given with no ticket or fine if the driver promises to uninstall the lighting; or in other cases a fine and court appearance may be required.

North Carolina Drivers License Test Guide in Spanish?

Are there any online guides that will help me somebody get their drivers license? I've been looking through a few sites, but they all charge about $5-$20 to either give you a guide or some tests, and they arent from the NCDOT.

Oh yeah, I need it in spanish.

I need either a guide or some practice tests, because it's not for me and the person I am getting it for does not know the English language.

I can find some in english but none in spanish.

It doesnt have to be from NCDOT, DMV or whatever, I'm just trying to help this person out.North Carolina Drivers License Test Guide in Spanish?
I can't believe sometimes how small minded and arrogant some people are. If the rule for learning languages applies to non-english speakers in the U.S, then I think the rule applies broadly and English-speakers shouldn't be able to drive or rent vehicles in any foreign country either. Wouldn't THAT put a damper on tourism and business travel worldwide! Driving is driving..yes some common sense in road sign recognition is needed, along with a few general rules, but that's about it. That should take about an hour to absorb. You don't need to be proficient in any language to sit behind a wheel and be responsible. There are worse drivers here that are proficient in English and you'd think they'd never learned to read!North Carolina Drivers License Test Guide in Spanish?
If they can not read and follow instructions in English, they should not be driving. Road signs are in English, and it is the language of this country. Have them take an English class and learn English before they try to get a license.North Carolina Drivers License Test Guide in Spanish?

I had lost my permit a couple months ago. I received my permit on May 7th 2008, but I lost and retrieved it back by going to DMV and asking for a new one on 9-22-08.. Does that mean to get my license, I'll now have to wait a year from 9/22 or 5/7..?

    I'm so worried...

The system will show your original permit issued on 5-7-08. Just because you lost it, doesn't change anything. So, a year from 5-7-08.

I don't know about the ones in North Carolina, but I took the one in Nevada twice, and their is 3 total. In North Carolina?

what all do you need to bring with you to the DMV in order to get your driver's license? do you still need to bring your birth certificate and social security card?In North Carolina?
To receive an original driver license in North Carolina, you must bring at least two acceptable forms of ID; one must reflect your full name (including your middle name or initial) and date of birth to the Driver License Examiner. You must complete and pass the written, sign, and vision tests. If you surrender a valid license from another state, the road test requirement is at the discretion of the Examiner. Proof of residency, liability insurance on your car and Social Security Number (or a valid Visa issued by a US Government Agency if SSN not authorized) are required.

    North Carolina Drivers Road Test?

For anyone who has done it, how is the test? Like, do you go out onto the street or is it done primarily in the back of the DMV? What sort of things do you have to do and how long does the test typically last? I live near Charlotte if that make a difference, and the DMV near me is the one on Arrowood RdNorth Carolina Drivers Road Test?
I'm from durham but the test for me took about 30 minutes. The DMV examiner will tell you to drive on the highway, but most usually will test you in an area where theirs not a lot of traffic like a neighborhood/subdivision.

    Put on your seat belt.

    Adjust seat/mirrors if needed.

    They will test you on:

    Backing up

    3 point turn

    using left/right signals

    stopping

driving straight on the right side of the road

looking left/right at stop signs before moving

    parking

those are some of the things I know they will test, there may be more it depends on who test youNorth Carolina Drivers Road Test?
I took the test myself 7 years ago to be exact. I will tell you there is NOTHING to be afraid of! In Hickory, NC, on 127, for the road test all you have to do is drive out of the parking lot, maintain 45 for 1 quarter mile, turn, do a 3 point reverse, and head back. It is that simple! Just remember to always signal. That is a big one in Catawba County! GOOD LUCK- pal!North Carolina Drivers Road Test?
I live in Raleigh and it was the easiest test ever. My guy just had me drive down the road a bit, drive in reverse, and do a 3 point turn. Boom. License.
I live in western NC. My road test was on the actual road. I drove about 2 - 3 miles down the road, backed into a driveway and headed back.

I assume you are asking about the limited permit, which you get at a younger age. You will need a current certificate. As it says in the driver's manual:

If you are at least 15 years of age and have

completed an approved driver education course

that meets North Carolina requirements and

can present a Driving Eligibility Certificate

You're going to have to go into the office b/c:

    (1) They HAVE to take a new picture of you.

    (2) They update your address and other information.

    (3) They give you a retest in the DMV office (you know, with the signs and what not. They may/may not give you a road test because it is "...at the discretion of the Examiner. No driving skills test will be initiated after 4:00pm."

    .

    (4) "Note: You may renew your license by mail if you are temporarily residing outside North Carolina for 30 or more days or if you are serving in the armed forces on active duty and are stationed outside the state. North Carolina General Statute 20-7(f) authorizes the Division to impose any conditions it finds advisable when issuing a renewal by mail. Therefore, it will be necessary that you meet certain criteria prior to the Division issuing the license. The license issued will be temporary and will expire either five or eight years (depending on your age), from renewal on your birthday or 60 days after you return to North Carolina, whichever date occurs first."

You will have to satisfy the court in N. Carolina. In turn, the DMV in N. Carolina will notify the DMV in Georgia. You may also want to check to see if there will be a reinstatement fee from both states.
Where did you get the ticket? Start there. Call the City Clerk in that city and tell them your problem they should be able to direct you to the place that you can pay your ticket to get the matter resolved....GET RECEIPTS so you will be able to prove to your DMV that you are in good standing and the traffic ticket has been taken care of.

However, if you remember our licenses have a red line on the bottom that fades away by itself when we turn 21 I believe.

Then you can go to the bar! If not, just walk in to the DMV and ask for a license renewal.

How dpi bring it back?
Contact your insurance agent with all the details about your new car, and have him/her transfer the insurance over. However, you do need a temp registration (in-transit vehicle permit), in order to drive it back. How are you going to prove it to the po-po that you own it?

My thinking is that letters mean White Trash Hunke ?When they taxt, a message it is used for a slang word?
Correct me if I am wrong, but I think you have the wrong letters. It was the letters "WTF" in that order that were recalled. I could not find anything with WTH or WHT.

I have a question about a North Carolina Drivers Permit?

I just recently got my permit about a month ago. I was talking with a friend today and they had mentioned that if you're over 16 or older when you get your permit in North Carolina (I just turned 16 a few days before I got my permit) then you only have to keep the permit for 6 months then can get a license, but this only applies to people who are 16 or older when they get their permit. Is this true?

I tried getting a hold of DMV but I couldn't get through. I also asked my parents and they said this used to be the way they did it, but they don't think they do this anymore.

If anyone knows, can you please let me know? Thanks! 10 points for best answer.I have a question about a North Carolina Drivers Permit?
Here's the deal, first of all you get your permit. That permit lasts for 1 year, however, it is divided into two 6 month segments regulating the time you can drive, regardless you must have a parent or guardian in the front seat with you. After that first year you go back to the DMV and get your provisional license, this license still regulates the time you can drive and allows you to have one passenger that is not an adult or you can have as many passengers as long as they are immediate relatives., but you no longer need an adult in the car with you. You keep your provisional license until you turn eighteen and once again go back to the DMV and get your full drivers license with no restrictions.

REQUIREMENTS FOR GETTING LICENSE IN NORTH CAROLINA?

I will be 16 next month and I'm planning on getting my license. I have checked the DMV website but it doesn't really make sense to me : ) So I wanted to know what is required [I know that you have to take the driving test but I don't know if you have to take a written test] [And does the state of NC require you to parallel park during the test?]

Also, what do you have to bring.....such as: birth certificate and social security card.

And the rules are different in different states so I'm only asking about North Carolina : )REQUIREMENTS FOR GETTING LICENSE IN NORTH CAROLINA?

    Speeding ticket in North Carolina?

I was in North Carolina and got a speeding ticket (my first ticket ever) for doin 80 in a 65. I have nationwide insurance, and live in Virginia and also have +1 points on my drivers license. now if I take a voluntary driver improvement course the VA DMV said my points would stay the same, but since im also between 18-20 i have to take another course. My questions r 1. will my insurance rates increase 2. should i go to the court which is an hour and a half away and tell the judge i voluntarily took a driving improvement course and hopes he wipes the ticket since it was my first ever.Speeding ticket in North Carolina?
Yes, your insurance rates will definitely rise. You were far over the speed limit.

You can go to court and fight it and tell the judge anything, as long as it's the truth.

I bought a truck on ebay. The title has a repossession attached & lien released. My DMV wont register? HELP!?

The truck was in Chicago and i flew in and drove it home to North Carolina. My DMV is telling me that the title can't have both a lien that has been released and a repossession attached. I called BANKONE [which is now Chase Bank] to ask for a letter stating that the lien was released in error, but they refuse to help me. I have contacted the guy[dealer in Joliet, Illinois] and he says the title work is 125% correct and that my DMV person is an idiot. I have to get this truck titled and registered to be able to drive it in my state and i'm getting no help from either source. If anyone knows of what i can do to get this straightened out, so i can drive the truck legally and have it titled and registered in my name, please HELP ME!!!!I bought a truck on ebay. The title has a repossession attached %26amp; lien released. My DMV wont register? HELP!?
you have to get Illinois to clear the title...did u really buy it with a lien on it.geeez
You need to take this guy to court.

The judge will make him do one of two things:

    1-buy back the truck

    or

2-give him 10 days to straighten out the title mess.I bought a truck on ebay. The title has a repossession attached %26amp; lien released. My DMV wont register? HELP!?
you need to force seller into straightening out the 'title' issue or repurchase the car, hopefully it wasn't sold as is.

if the 'lien' has been released it should be removed from the title, as for the repossession attachment you'd figure that would be cleared once the bank sold car to the dealer who sold it to you. Good luck
Here is the Illinois DMV website http://www.dmv.org/il-illinois/department-motor-vehicles.php I would start there and see what you could find out with them first.I bought a truck on ebay. The title has a repossession attached %26amp; lien released. My DMV wont register? HELP!?
You need to get a good attorney, if the guy you bought it from will not come get the truck and give you all your money back

(including what you spent to go get it). A title can have both a released lein %26amp; a repossession. However, it cannot be sold or registered to another person as long as the company that

repossessed it still retains ownership. (They still retain it because it's on the title.) The guy couldn't legally sell you that

truck because he didn't own it free and clear in the first place.

My husband and I bought a car on Ebay. We got a bad deal, as

well. The guy's ex wife really owned the car and wouldn't sign over the title. In the end, under the threat of being sued, the guy came down, got the car and gave us our money back in cash.

(Don't accept anything else. No checks.)

Report the guy to Ebay for fraud. Also, report him to the

police department in his town for fraud. (They may ask you to report it at your local PD.)

Call an attorney. (Legal Aid will help you for free if your income is below 125 percent of the poverty level for your family size.)

Also, there are several legitimate sellers on Ebay, selling their vehicles. Be more careful, next time. Email seller a question asking them to send you copy of verification that the title is free and clearly theirs first. All reputable sellers will do so.
Take it back and have him process a clear title into his name and then assign it to you.
Well, to begin with, the lien release is not a release to you, it is a lien release to the repossession agent, which makes them the owner of the vehicle so they can legally come and take it from the registered owner.

The DMV person is 150% correct. You can't register a vehicle in your name that has a repossession attached to the title. You will have to take care of that first, although it doesn't sound like the dealer who sold it to you will be very cooperative.

Did you see the title when you went to take delivery? That should have been a red flag, and a reason to back out.

Once again you have shown why it's never a good idea to buy a vehicle on line.
you need a lawyer to get this fixxed.
