What is the process of getting your drivers license switched to a North Carolina license?

i have had my GA license for almost 3 years and i am moving to NC. i heard that you have to have insurance to get it but i thought you have to have a license to get insurance. In what order do i do all of this? license, insurance, tag, registration, inspection etc... and how much is all of this going to cost not counting insurance? i am a 20 year old stay at home mom and my husband doesn't make a whole lot of money so i just need all of this info in detail before i start the process. thanks so much.... in as much detail as possible please cause the DMV isn't that much of a help with all of it together. What is the process of getting your drivers license switched to a North Carolina license?
you can get your insurance policy in NC with a GA license. your company will give you time to switch your license over to NC. i even have a couple companies that will allow you to keep your GA license if you are military. after you get your insurnace policy you go to the DMV and get your license. the test is not hard, its all common sense. i believe when i first moved here and got my license it was about $25. the real cost is registering your autos. when you first move and register your autos hre there is a 1 time road tax you have to pay and its about $200.
i am having the same issue THE NC DMV is a pain in the ***, NC is one of the worst states to have a licenses and own a vehicle in america...

Each state is different and has it's own rules and regulations. I am not at all familiar with North Carolina DMV rules. I am surprised that you can't get the answers you need from DMV. Maybe you should contact North Carolina DMV if you didn't already. If you have only spoken to Georgia DMV they probably don't really know the correct answer as it pertains to NC.
You can help yourself by searching for the NC DMV online and getting the number there. Should have a toll free 800 or 888 number, so you can call and get the information and fees that you are looking for. Good luck on your move, and enjoy NC.What is the process of getting your drivers license switched to a North Carolina license?
ITS BEST IF YOU CONTACT YOUR LOCAL (DMV) DEPARTMENT OF MOTOR VEHICLES OFFICE, THEY WILL BE ABLE TO ANSWER ANY AND ALL OF YOUR QUESTIONS AND AT THE SAME TIME YOU WILL BE GETTING THE CORRECT ANSWER TO YOUR QUESTION.
Every State, with the exception of the District of Columbia, will allow a person with a license from another State to go to DMV, surrender their old license and exchange it for the current State's license.

The District of Columbia, I think is the only one that doesn't do this due to the large amount of traffic circles in Washington,D.C..

This exchange system is called reciprocity.
You're making this way too complicated. You move to NC, you go to their DMV, fill out their application, surrender your GA license, pay a few bucks and they issue you a new NC license. I'm sure the State of NC has a website that explains all of this in great detail.
