How can i get a 30 day tag in north carolina?

i stay in north carolina and i just bought a car. i have the title but i need to take it to the dmv. will they give me a tag so my car wont get tow?|||if you live in north carolina they will want to register it in your name by paying the tax,and tag.if you are not doing the registration there they will issue you a temperary tag till you can get it to your state.
